Astoria is a peninsula surrounded on three sides by water. Not surprisingly, bridges are a major landmark of the area and provide the routes for commerce and tourism which are so much a part of the past and present for the area. This is the Astoria Bridge which spans the Columbia River near its mouth joining Oregon and Washington State near the site that marks the end of the Lewis and Clark journey.
